As I sit down to write this testimonial, I find myself almost at a loss for words. I am without question beyond grateful for the opportunity to have embarked on this journey with Amy and Curls and Whey Training (CWT). My physical transformation so far has been rewarding beyond what I can express, but perhaps, even more prolific, is how I’ve transformed my awareness and my entire approach to fitness, health, and well-being.

I came to CWT with a long history of dieting and fitness yo-yo-ing. I’d run the gamut from Weight Watchers to Diet-to-Go, and pretty much every Beachbody LLC home workout program released (you know…P90X, Insanity, TurboFire, etc.). I had moderate results from these programs, each time managing to lose 10-15 pounds, but never really changing my physique. I simply changed the overall weight of my 5’4’’ jiggly frame. I could gain and lose 10 pounds like a boss, but my body, not to mention my self-esteem, felt no reward. I could run cardio circles around most, doing every form of cardio exercise available for at least an hour per day. Basically, I was a hamster on a wheel, go nowhere fast. I had always oogled the fitness magazine pictures of gorgeous women, yearning for a body that screamed fit and healthy. My ideal physique was never the Cosmo mag, waif-thin model, but the rock-hard gorgeous physiques of the fitness models gracing the pages of Muscle and Fitness Hers and Oxygen. I busted my ass like all the ladies in my workout tapes, but I sure didn’t look like them. Why?

I came across Curls and Whey Training and Lean Bodies Consulting via Facebook and started to stalk their respective pages and photo transformations. Each one was more impressive than the next. What caught my attention most of all was the fact that the after photos of these people (real people–mind you–not models) likened themselves to those bad-ass bodies I had seen in the fitness mags. These folks were transforming themselves. That was it…I wanted in.

I waited my term on the waitlist and my time hit in late April of 2012. You’d think I won the lottery with all the celebration upon the arrival of Amy’s email. In retrospect, I kinda didJ From the very beginning, I had the sense that things would be different this time. I gave myself over completely to the process and put my full faith and trust in the program that Amy gave me. There was never a doubt in my mind to do anything other than that. Compliance for me from day one was a no-brainer. I felt I had finally been given the tools to reach my goals so there was no chance in hell that I was going to let anything, or anybody (namely myself) get in my way.

I guess you could say the rest is history. I simply followed my plan with complete consistency day in and day out. In the first few months of my journey, I went on 2 family beach vacations, and managed to stay on plan throughout the entire time. Again, my plan was–dare I say–easy. I loved my food and my workouts, so why would I feel the need to cheat? I certainly didn’t feel deprived and I would only be cheating myself out of reaching my goals that much sooner.

As a coach, Amy has been wonderful; always accessible and very responsive. I workout at home, and she has made it easy to tailor my workouts to my needs. She has never been more than an email, message, text, or cell call away. The online coaching experience was completely new to me. And while I was always hellbent on my goals and thereby not necessarily needing the accountability of another person, it was quite honestly, even more rewarding to be able to share my progress with her. Every biweekly was my chance to show her how well her plan was working!

Each biweekly, I was amazed with the steady progression. I literally was watching my body change before my eyes. The more I progressed, the easier it became as I was able to experience (for literally the first time ever) the ultimate reward for my hard work…a glimpse at the body I had always wanted. I set a goal to be bikini-ready (something I have never been, mind you) for a friend’s wedding my husband and I were attending in Jamaica in December 2012. Well, December came, and for the first time in my adult life (actually in my entire life), I felt comfortable in my skin on the beach. It may sound shallow to some, but when you’ve spent so many years longing for the chance to simply feel confident in your own body, the day when that comes is simply overwhelming.

I continued to progress even through the crazy holiday season and am still plugging away as I write this. My journey isn’t over because I haven’t realized my full potential yet, and as a dedicated client of CWT, I know full-well that it’s possible. I am not a competitor, nor do I have any desire to take my journey to the stage; and that’s almost the best part of my story. I’m a regular chick, and I was able to achieve what I always thought wasn’t possible for me. And I’m still achievingJ

To say that I thank Amy and the LBC/CWT family is simply not enough. My journey has been life-changing. As I close in on my 40th birthday (less than 2 years away), I know that I am in the best shape of my life. I am more confident and just an all-around happier wife and mother. My only regret is it that I didn’t find CWT sooner.

In the fall of 2011, I was close to 300 pounds and on medication for high cholesterol and triglycerides.  I was in a rut and unable to lose weight.  All of the “old school bro science” logic that I was listening to at the time wasn’t working. (If you aren’t losing, cut back your food and do more cardio. If that doesn’t work, you just aren’t hardcore enough.)  I was eating less than 2500 calories a day, doing 45 minute cardio sessions seven to nine times a week on an empty stomach, while training with weights an additional four to five times a week.

I was gaining weight and mad at the entire world.  My life was suffering because of the cycle I was in.  I contacted Erik Ledin of Lean Bodies Consulting, who in turn recommended I contact Amy at Curls and Whey.  I was extremely skeptical, but I figured that I could quit after three months if it wasn’t working for me.
                Amy took everything I thought I knew, and threw it out the window.  When I received my first plan, I was actually stunned by the amount of food that I was supposed to eat.  Seriously… steak, chicken, turkey, white potatoes, rice and sweet potatoes?  Ice cream cones for a post workout meal?  No way.  The reduction of cardio work to 4 HITT interval training sessions of 30 minutes a week were walk in the park compared to the torture I had been putting myself through.  She tailored my training sessions and metabolic workouts to my needs, and designed them around my existing injuries.  Amy took the time to personally answer my seemingly endless amounts of questions and ease my fears and doubts.  I committed myself 100% to the plan and compliance.  (12 weeks dude, you can do 12 weeks standing on your head…)
                Over the course of the next 12 months, my entire life changed.  I went from 292 lbs. to 212, from a tight fitting size 42 pants to being comfortable in a 36, and from a 54 jacket to a 46.  For the first time in my entire life, I am able to see my abs.  I am at a body weight that I have not matched since I was 13 years old.  My doctor took me off of the medication I had been taking to manage my cholesterol count, and my blood pressure dropped by 20 points.  My resting heart rate fell from 80 to the low 50s.  All of this progress helped me regain lost confidence in myself, while giving me a more positive outlook on life.
                Progress can be made by any trainer and coach that has a decent plan, but continued progress month after month takes much more.  Amy provides personal attention to all of her clients.  She  works with individuals needs and wants, and will even  tailor your food plan to your particular taste.   As you progress, she is with you every step of the way offering support and the occasional tough love when needed.  Your workouts change with you, and your dieting flexibility does as well.  I have never seen another coach who would allow the flexibility to change meals through the LBC/CWT food substitute app for Android and iPhones.
                Amy has provided me with the tools, knowledge, plan and flexibility to take away all of the roadblocks and assure that I will continue to be successful in my quest for a healthier me.  With the tireless support and love of my wife and the continued coaching from CWT, I can’t wait to see what happens over the next 12 months…

Balance!  That is the first thing that pops into my head when trying to sum up what CWT/Amy have done for me.  It’s hard to even know where to start.  A little history, I was doing bootcamp 3 x a week and running the other 3 or 4 days (almost never taking a day off).  I decided I wanted a change—I wanted to be lean and defined, to look like a competitor, and I wasn’t seeing it.  I decided I should start lifting weights again.  While trying to find out how to get my results and find some guidance, I stumbled across a client of LBC/Erik on FB—she looked amazing and had just the muscle/definition I had been picturing.  So, I contacted Erik ASAP, whose wait list was very long (I’m not a patient person), but-he hooked me up with Amy/CWT to get going sooner.  I got on her wait list right away knowing that this was my answer and what I had been searching for—(although at that time I still never thought it a million years those results would actually happen for ME! ) Well, I got “the email” from her that it was my time to start.  It also happened to be 11 weeks and 6 days from a local fitness competition that I decided to use as my goal.  At that point I had it in my head to work with Amy for 3 months—to get me “stage ready,” and then I could go on my way (defined and ripped of course!)  Poor Amy dealt with my inexperience and lack of patience and knowledge the whole way.  I kept talking about my show date, and she kept insisting we’d see where we were.  I was starting to learn you don’t train for numbers (scale) or dates (shows) but LOOKS!  Little by little I was seeing that…on ME!  I was seeing lines and definition I had only imagined!  I FINALLY realized I couldn’t out train my bad diet no matter how many miles I was putting on.  I also never thought I’d get there eating foods I CHOSE and with VARIETY!  Wow—this was actually getting to be an easy way of life for me…who knew!  Well, show day came-I entered 2 categories (fit and figure) and placed 1st and 2nd, which absolutely shocked me.  At that point, my three months were up….yet my time with CWT was only really beginning.  I went on 3 weeks later to do another show (same categories) again placing 1st and 2nd.  We took some time over the next few months to do a short building phase and then another show in the fall.  I competed in October and took FIRST…in short, masters, AND OVERALL.  I earned my pro card in my 3rd show-about 10 months after starting with Amy.  I decided to take the invite to compete at the WNBF World’s Championship 3 weeks later.  I didn’t place in the top half—but I didn’t go into it with those expectations.  I was competing in only my 4th show and first as a professional, I just wanted to experience it.  Thanks to Amy/CWT, I looked my best EVER on stage and was the happiest I had EVER been with myself!  I liked the person I saw and had become.

Back to balance—I’m happier, I have more time, and I can pick and choose my foods, including ice cream…almost daily!  I look better now than in my 20s, before having had 3 babies!  This is my lifestyle—I am no longer training for numbers on the scale or dates on the calendar—it’s about life, my goals, and ME!  I have made amazing friendships along my journey!  I just can’t possibly say enough about Amy and CWT—she is an amazing coach with so much knowledge and patience.  She laid it on the line for me at times, which was the exact reality I needed, and the whole reason I knew CWT was for me from the beginning.  She helps people make their dreams and goals realities!  Amy, I am so honored and privileged to be a client!  You are truly a gift and a blessing to me!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

Living your BEST LIFE!

Well, I did it!  I competed in an NPC bikini competition and actually placed 2nd in both open and novice divisions.  So much fun!

I want to thank everyone for SUPPORTING me because believe me, having support makes all the difference!  This has been a long journey for me, but one that I would not trade; as I have learned so much about myself!  I also learned so much about healthy eating and living and now have an enjoyable, balanced lifestyle that will enable me to keep this beautiful body I worked so hard to create.  Thanks to my AWESOME coach, Amy Sessions-Perez, at CWT; I had an enjoyable contest prep, loved my workouts AND my food.  I did not spend hours and hours doing mindless cardio and YES, I ATE CARBS!  I even had my daily cappuccino until about 6 weeks to the competition!  I won’t lie, there were hard days.  There were days when I just wanted to quit, when my body said no, when there were temptations, but I said yes to myself and to my plan more than I let my weaknesses get the best of me.  Yes, I doubted myself, but I trusted the process and my coach and stayed the course.
